Yesterday, our Year 5/6 boys’ football team took part in a Westminster-wide competition. Here is a match report by one of the team:
On the 29th of January 2018, some boys from years 5-6 went to a football tournament.
Fist we had a warm up passing the ball to each other and having a run around. The first match was a draw (0-0), the second match was a defeat (1-0), and the third match was another defeat (2-0). Then we were knocked out so we couldn’t go through to the semi-finals.
After that we went to another pitch to play some friendlies. For our first friendly we versed Saint Vincent’s Primary School, and lost 1-0, but we finally won our last friendly 2-1!
Finally we got our stuff and made our way back to school. We enjoyed the day and hope to win better and learn from our mistakes that we made.

Yesterday, children from our Animation Club and other budding artists visited the Regent Street Cinema to be judges for the British Animation Awards. This is a huge honour and we were delighted to have been invited! The children watched 6 short films, giving them a score out of 10 and writing down their feedback. The results of their judgements will be announced in March as the ‘Children’s Choice Award’. They also had a great time making thaumathropes and animating them on a laptop! It was a wonderful day.
Our school choir are very busy at the moment, singing carols around our local community.
On Friday, some of the children visited Portman Nursery to sing carols in their Christmas jumpers (which they did with some great jingle bell backing!).
On Sunday, they sang at the St Mary’s Church Christingle service, delighting the whole congregation with their fabulous version of Away in a Manger.
On Tuesday, some of the choir sang at the British Land offices for the people who work there. We have a very close link with British Land, so were delighted to be able to sing for them!
We are so delighted to have a strong link with both Wetherby Preparatory School and Wetherby Senior School. Boys from the senior school come weekly to work with some of our Year 6 students. You can find out more in the current edition of their school magazine, on pages 12-15:
Last week, our girls’ football team played a friendly game of football against the girls from Hampden Gurney school. This was arranged by QPR, who work with us every week in school.
Well done to Hampden Gurney, who beat our girls 3 – 0, and well done to all the girls for taking part so sportingly!

This afternoon, we had a concert to celebrate some of the wonderful Dance and Music that our children have learnt this year. We had four performance pieces from the choir, solos from several different children on the piano, a reprive of Year 6’s musical and two dance numbers. Also, two girls sang an original composition, unaccompanied.
Everyone did brilliantly and we are very proud of you all.
We then had fabulous refreshments out in the playground, courtesy of the Friends of St Mary’s.
It was wonderful to see the Dance Club perform what they had been working on this year to other children in school last week. Here they are in action! It would be great to see more children joining up next year.
