Roman Day

Yesterday, Year 4 had a day of being Romans, to enhance their learning in History. They dressed in togas, created shields and produced some lovely writing about Roman times. Here they are in their Roman finery:

Rugby fever at St Mary’s!

Today, Y5 and Y6 emulated the teams in the Rugby World Cup, playing against each other in a series of competitive Tag Rugby games. The games were closely fought, and both classes did well. There were some impressive tries scored – well done!

Tea with Miss Norman 19.10.15

This week it was an all girls tea party, completely by chance! We talked about our pets and the way giraffes run, as well as discussing how the school welcomes new pupils and makes learning fun for everyone.

School Games Mark Award

We are delighted that we have been awarded the Bronze level ‘School Games Mark’.

This is a validation of St Mary’s commitment to Sport, and the quality of the provision children have. Well done to all the teachers for achieving this (especially Miss Bell who made the application) and to all the children for their outstanding attitude to sport and sportsmanship.

Open Day – 11th November

We are having an Open Day for parents looking for a Nursery or Reception place for September 2016. It is on Wednesday 11th November. We have a session at 10.00 and one at 6.00, so please come to the one that suits you best. Our school choir will be performing, and there will be refreshments available. If you have any friends who you think would like the school, do please let them know!

St Mary’s School Vision and Logo

We have been working hard on our vision for St Mary’s school, and on a modern, up to date logo. Please see our document about how we did this: St Marys Identity and Vision 2015

Our vision for St Mary’s is:

Excellence with compassion

This means that our aim is:

“To provide an excellent learning environment, which promotes achievement in every area, and nurtures the social, emotional and spiritual well-being of the whole school community.”

Our new logo is a version of the logo the children currently have on their school uniform, showing St Mary’s Church:

You will start to see this logo being used all around the school, and from 1st January, you will be able to buy uniform with this logo on (both in school, and online). The school council have helped us develop the school uniform, and as a result we will be introducing some new items.

We hope you like our vision and logo, and will support us to make St Mary’s the best it can be!
