Year 5 Wallace Collection Art Trip

Today, Year 5 visited the Wallace Collection to take part in an art workshop. Mr Davies writes:

‘The children were inspired by the story that Alex (an artist) read about Louis XV. They sketched objects that represented different parts of the story, before trying screen printing with various colour inks, to create an eclectic piece about the story. Alex was impressed with the ability and enthusiasm the children showed, as well their team work.’

Y1 Pizza Express Visit

Last week, Year 1 visited Pizza Express to learn how to make pizzas and explore different ingredients. Here they are making and enjoying their pizzas:

Y6 Junior Citizen Trip

Last week, Year 6 visited the London Transport Museum for a Junior Citizen workshop.

Mr Knight writes:

This week, Year 6 had a break from their SATs revision and enjoyed a day out of class. They were invited to participate in the Year 6 Junior Citizenship programme run  by Westminster. The children are taught life skills essential to being a responsible member of our community. This was done through different real-life scenarios. There were six stations in total which were:

  1. How to travel safely on the underground tube
  2. How to use your zip card on the bus
  3. How to approach dogs in public
  4. Using the internet safely
  5. What to do in case of a fire
  6. How to cross the road safely

“The Westminster Junior Citizenship scheme is a unique and invaluable opportunity for Year 6 children to learn citizenship messages and life skills from participating agencies, including: the Metropolitan Police, the London Fire Service, Westminster Council, the British Red Cross and our own Transport for London Safety and Citizenship Team. Students spend their morning session taking part in interactive scenarios that teach strategies for leading a safer and more responsible lifestyle.”

The forecast was lovely, which meant we could also enjoy a sunny picnic in the grounds of St Paul’s church, in the Covent Garden Piazza and play some team building games.

Overall the trip was a great success and all children had fun. Thanks to the staff and parents for making this trip possible.
