On Monday, Year 5 visited the British Museum to enhance their learning about the Ancient Egyptians. Mr Davies writes:
We visited the British Museum for several reasons. Firstly, we saw the legendary Rosetta Stone, which we studied in our Ancient Egypt topic. Next, one of the curators of the Museum gave us a talk about the oldest mummified body there (from approximately 5,500 years ago). Finally, the children had a chance to use mobile phones to create their own multimedia tomb paintings, to represent what they would like in the afterlife, had they lived in ancient Egypt.
Today, the children in Year 1 had the opportunity to sit in a professional orchestra rehearsal at the South Bank Centre. They could see the musicians close up and were able to explore their instruments, some of which were very old. It was really inspiring for them and they had a great time. We are grateful to London Music Masters for making this possible.
Today in assembly, we were delighted to receive a certificate from Carla Lowe (Wesminster Council Road Safety Officer) from the Marylebone LEN for our efforts to reduce air pollution. In particular, they were really impressed with our ‘Clean Air Quality Street’ on May 23rd.
Our School Council Chair and Vice Chair received the award:
