Monsters Ball 2017

On Friday, the Friends of St Mary’s organised a ‘Monsters Ball’ for the children after school. Here are some of the children’s monstrous costumes:

Hot Chocolate with Miss Norman

Yesterday, we began our new reward system for our class Dojo point winners: Hot Chocolate with Miss Norman. The winner (s) from each class came to the school library, where we drank hot chocolate and the children discussed their views about school and different activities they like, as well as asking Miss Norman questions. We had a lovely time!

Year 6 Quiz a PhD student!

Today, Year 6 were visited by a PhD student about his scientific work and his Christian faith. They have been studying Creation in Religious Education and thinking about how Christians combine their religious beliefs with their understanding of Science. The children had written to Mr Shaw beforehand and had composed some really insightful questions, such as ”why did you choose to study Science if you thought it might affect your faith?” During the discussion, the children took notes about things they found particularly interesting, or answers to the questions they had.

We are very grateful to Barnabas Shaw for visiting us today.

Pride of Britain Awards 2017

On Monday, Year 6 went to the Grosvenor House Hotel to cheer for the award winners and celebrities at the Pride of Britain Awards. They behaved extremely well and were very polite and well-mannered to all the people they met. They enjoyed getting the celebrities to sign their autograph books and chat to them.

Open Day for Prospective Parents

We are holding an open day for any parents interested in sending their children to St Mary’s on Tuesday 14th November at 9am. This is a great opportunity to find out about what goes on in classes, talk to some of the children and meet the headteacher.

We hope to see you there!
